Renting an RV

If you’ve ever felt like the world is too big, too confusing or just downright overwhelming to tackle with your own two legs, then this blog post is for you.

Maybe staying in a tent is not your thing but others in your group are all about it!

Finding compromises within your group of adventurers can be tricky but just lay the RV card on the table. What’s the worst that can happen?

Read on if travel has been on your mind lately but maybe you don’t want to do a 160km hike and stay outdoors in a tent every night – this post is perfect for all types of travelers!

Lay the RV card on the table with your group

To be honest, I’m not the RV kinda person. I like my adventures done on foot and my nights spent in a tent- surrounded by nature and at the mercy of natures symphony. Recently, I did a hike that would take me on foot from the very foothills of one of Finland’s most northern tips and into the promise land of Norway. But wait, we were a group of four. Which means that two of our friends in the group were not keen on the hike and neither were they interested in spending their nights snuggled in a sleeping bag in rugged terrain.

The solution; an RV. That’s right, our other two friends in the group proposed the RV card and it was a comprise that ultimately we all had to settle and agree on. My friend and I would go on to do an epic hike- satisfy all of our adrenaline/hiking  junky needs and meet up with our other two comrades at an agreed rendezvous.

Sometimes you just need an RV

As the title states above… Sometimes you just need an RV. On the last day, after having hiked an epic 160km in just five days, I was already looking forward to getting picked up by an RV that would ultimately take us to other adventures, fishing spots, camping spots, etc.
As it turned out, having the RV was extremely useful. It was a place where we could dry our clothes, prep meals, get from A to B, load up on supplies and groceries, oh the list goes! But definitely plan ahead!

Plan all the Nooks and Crannies

I’m not hear to preach. However, do plan ahead if you are considering renting an RV and going somewhere epic.Fiddling around at the last minute with plans and group of four or more stressful! Take my word for it. Plan ahead and map out all the places you want to hit up with your friends. Make sure your RV has all the necessities that you plan to utilise and that you have a resting place for the RV- one preferably with an epic view! If you find yourself in a similar situation such as mine- where the group will be split apart and there’s a rendezvous- make sure that supplies will be waiting for you in the RV or that there’s at least a store nearby where you can stock up. It would be a damn shame to be picked up and there’s no beer in the fridge, and much worse… You are getting picked up on a Sunday in Norway where there’s only one market and it is closed.
